Nearing Ohio
As I type, Shayne is nearing the Ohio line! Praise God for safe travels thus far! Aunt V, being one to tough it out until the very end, arranged for her flight to leave out of Cleveland instead of Philadelphia, so they'll drop her off at the airport in about three hours and she'll fly back to Phoenix while they finish the journey home. I will forever be grateful for Vaunie's employer and friends for sending her out and allowing her to stay and help out in what turned out to be my long absense. We have met the greatest people on Earth throughout our journey! We don't walk this road alone; we are incredibly blessed by tremendous friends and strangers alike!
Shayla and I went grocery shopping after school so that Shayne and Christi would have some good foods waiting for them and so that Shayla could pick up the things she's been wanting to get in order to make the sandwich in "The Sandwich that Max Made". She was as proud as a peacock fixing me dinner tonight- a ham, cheese, green pepper and bean sprout sandwich- just like Max made! Delicious! It was in town where I received the text message from Shayne regarding the scan.....
Liver lesions remain unchanged, negative for fungal infection, platelets transfused, hung her blood at 3:30.
About 8:00 PM, their long day was complete and they left Philadelphia to make the ten hour trip home. I look for them to arrive about 6:00 AM. Shayne said he has to get ready for a 11:00 meeting at work; that man is simply amazing! I plan on spoiling him and Christi (and what the heck - Shayla too! We've had incredible bonding time in the past two weeks) the rest of the day.
Christi's scan report was preliminary. At first I was disappointed that improvement wasn't noted after a terribly harsh round of chemo (TVD agents) but now that I ponder it some more, I fully realize it could have been worse and maybe the final report will show improvement after all. Regardless, our family will soon be back together again and we're all very happy about that! Goodnight from the Thomas team!

all the best.
brooke, in oregon.. soon to be utah!
Glad you'll finally be able to hug both Christi and Shayne in your arms in the morning! I'll be smiling going to bed tonight with that thought in my head.
Hopefully the final report will show that some improvement has been made with the lesions. It's at least better than progression.
Oh, wonderful Shayne, after a tough two weeks and a ten hour trip he's still going to work. No rest for the weary comes to mind.
Hope to see pictures of the two smiling Thomas girls tomorrow.
Good night and God bless,
Anna
Dear Thomas Team, Praise God that you will all be together soon. Angela you just spoil the rotten. I know Christi will be glad to be home but even more pleased to see you and Shayla. Hope Christi continues to feel better and better. The prayer warriors continue their mission. Have a great week-end, and we'll all pray for a return to school for Christi. Ellen

Here's hoping the remainder of Shayne and Christi's travels were uneventful. We love you, Thomas Team, and we rejoice in seeing you reunite after what was clearly a difficult separation for everyone involved.
I'm sorry the liver exams didn't show improvement, but you're right, it could have been much worse. The last several years, "no change" became wonderful words as Christi managed to thrive and grow at home. I hope that the chemo is doing its job, and she will have more improvement in the other areas at her next testing.
Enjoy your time together (as if you need to be told that!), and we'll watch for updates again soon. Love to you from rainy Nashville and the whole Barnickle family.

Yay for home time!!! I hope you have a wonderful time all together and Christie feels really well. Love and prayers for a very special family.
Happy Saturday Thomas Team!!! But then, "Happy" probably doesn't do justice to what you're feeling now that all of you are together again!! I can't read a single post from either of you without getting teary eyed. Today's were tears of happiness & of gratitude to everyone who has helped make these trying times a little sweeter by what they do. I wish there were something I could do-just know that you have all of my prayers, positive thoughts & love.
Love & hugs from CA,
Pat
Dear Thomas Team,
I hope that Christi and Shayne have arrived safely home. It's great that they were allowed to leave! I pray that the scan results will show some improvement in the liver. It's great that there was no evidence of fungus there!
The new photo's are very nice.
Take care, have a great weekend
lots of love Angela
I must leave another message...I've just noticed that Buckeye seems to be wearing a tee shirt...Well Done...you must have a very very co-operative kitty, tee hee. Hope you have a magical time together.
