She's BACK!

The sweetie isn't just back, she's back with her boundless energy, amazing wit, incredulous compassion and amazing faith! After the hell she's endured in recent weeks, I just can't believe she looks and feels this well! Praise God! I'm grateful to now have placed my own eyes upon her, cuddled with her, assisted with an art project and witnessed her playing so happily with Shayla the entire day. I fully expected to spend the day spoiling her; however, she was busy playing with the new “Art House” (It’s amazing!) and “American Girl” things with Shayla. She hasn't eaten yet today, but perhaps that's either because Shayne said she ate a quarter pounder at midnight or because she's been too busy playing all today to stop and eat.
Shayne and I spent the entire afternoon on the couch talking, reading and napping. (I can't believe he let Christi shave his head bald, but Christi thinks he looks great and said she'd do mine too.) I think Aunt Vaunie’s right as she told Shayne we "sugar coat" things on the website- all that Christi endures is absolutely horrendous, intense and downright grueling. I added up Christi’s medical record since January 9th 2006: 28 days of harsh treatments, 33 nights spent in the hospital, 15 life saving transfusions, 3 nights spent in the emergency room, countless tests, pokes, and hospital appointments yet one unstoppable spirit! She’s missed seventy one days of fourth grade this year, but she is hoping to be back on Monday. I think that will happen!

So thrilled for you that you are all home together, great news that Christi is back home where she belongs,I am praying for Christi as allways.Have a great weekend, sending you loads of good wishes from the UK.
I'm SO happy that life is once again as it should be (except for the cancer) in the Thomas Household!!!
You know, I suppose Aunt V is right about the sugar coating, but I think that maybe it's done somewhat unintentionally. I know that when Ryan was sick & we watched the horrors he went thru with treatment, the first "good" day or smile helped to push it back just a little in our minds & all was right (or at least better) in our world too. I think that in spite of what you write, that's the reason, that sometimes, I sit & stare at the screen for quite awhile unable to post. I think that as cancer parents, we have some idea what you're going through-we've all been down paths that are similar but so different. I don't want to write something that will bring you down, (heck, how much farther down can one go?) but I don't want to trivialize what I know you're going through either. All I know is that when I saw the pictures with this post, my heart rose & my first thought was "Thank God, she's ok...." Also, as a parent, I know that as the next treatment nears, those uncoated thoughts creep to the forefront once again.
In the meantime, as far as the Thomas family goes, I'm going to thank God for the gift that is Christi, for the BEST parents that little girl could ever have, for Shayla & Vaunie, the BEST sisters that Christi & Shayne could have, both Grandmas and all the other Thomas Team members. I think of you guys more than you'll ever know.
Love & hugs from CA,
Pat
PS There's an old saying, "God only made a few perfect heads; all the rest he covered with hair." I think we can apply this to the 3 heads we've seen in htese pictures....I've NEVER seen 3 more beautiful heads....or spirits!!
Ok, if heaven isn't being snuggled by your kitties, what is?! OH, sorry - playing with your sister, being back home and getting to be with Mom - well, I guess all those things are just heaven too.
Thank you for the great pictures.
Christi - you are a spirit to be reckoned with!
Praying you continue to feel better and better, that you get to go to school and have a great time and that you get to stay home for a lo-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-ong time.
lots of love,
Eliza
dearest christi...
while you are famous to so many people on this blog who are so inspired by you (and your family!), I would like to think that you will be incredibly famous for beating this monster. I pray for it - and seeing you smile with your sister and your beloved (cute!) cat is awesome :o)
keep going, we're rootin' for you!!!!
Oh what delight it brings to my heart to see Christi and Shayla playing together, Christi cuddling with her cats and hearing that she's feeling pretty well.
What an unstopable spirit indeed! This chick ROCKS! It's my honor and privilage to have met her and all of you through the website. As I say often I wish it was for a different reason (OF COURSE) but I'm forever grateful for the blessings you lovingly bestoe upon me.
I'm glad you and Shayne had some "down time" together as well.
I love you all so much. I hope and pray sweet Christi will get back to her friends and 4th grade on Monday!
With all my love, and tons of prayers,
Heather
It's great to see her smiling face with a background of your house instead of hospital beds, tubies and machines!
What a good start to the weekend indeed. I hope her apitie picks up again but a happy spirit helps the body heal quicker.
I think the sugar coating is out of habit, you get used to doing it in daily life and it can translate over to the web world.
Hope you have a terrific Sunday and hopefully she will be in school on Monday.
Anna
I'm so glad you're all home together and enjoying each other's company. I hope Christi's well enough to return to school this week. My prayers for her continue, and I hope you all enjoy the rest of the weekend.
I love you Christi.
You make me smile.
Keep up your ammazing spirit.

Hey Guys. We know where you are and what you have been through and we are now on our way back there. These girls have gone through things most of us will never come close to understanding and they are doing it with a Strength most of it will never have. I thank God everyday just to be close to such greatness.
Our prayers are with you!

Dear Angela and Shayne,
What a wonderful little girl she is!! I'm really happy to see that she is feeling good, that she is enjoying herself so much being at home and playing with Shayla, it's marvellous! The pictures are great, how lovely to see her snuggled up with the two cats too! I'm sure Christi had fun shaving Shayne's head, he's brave!
It hurts inside to think of Christi suffering so much with her treatments, I'm sure it must be horrendous and those who read your site do realise this I think. I read your site every day always with the hope of seeing that she is making good progress, hoping for news like todays, that Christi is having fun and enjoying herself and dreading bad news, hearing that she is suffering pain. It makes me laugh when I read of the funny things she says, and I feel happy to know you are ok. It makes me cry when I know she is suffering, I don't even really know her, only through your site, but I have fallen in love with this brave little girl. I hate the thought of her (or any other child) suffering.
I pray that Christi will continue to have a great time at home and that her treatment will be successful, (I know what you say about her being only lent to you, I hope sincerely that is not so) that it will stop the progress of disease and that a cure will be found for her.
Lots of love
Angela

All those bald heads looks really supportive, and if it makes Christie smile, its worth it. Not sure Buttercup and Buckeye will join in though! Love and Monday Prayers for you all, may this new week be a good one for you all.
What a sweet picture of the girls, and of Christi with her two kitties! I hope her appetite picks up a bit, and that she can indeed go to school tomorrow. My prayers for her, and your family, continue.
All of the pictures are great, especially the ones of Christi with her bright smile with her cats and the one with her sister! She still continues to amaze after a tough couple of weeks away from home and a few hurdles along the way and a long trek back home, she still looks great. With such a beautiful smile and spirit, it is hard to believe that she is the fiercest fighter yet! I hope you have many happy moments during this treasured time at home.
Dear Thomas Family -
What glorious pictures!!!! We are so happy that you all are under the same roof again. Praise the Lord, for more answered prayers!!!
We also can't wait to read another update to see how school was today. We're hoping that sweet Christi got to go back!!! Her classmates will be thrilled, we're sure. As will Christi!!!
God bless you all! We are "praying without ceasing" for Christi's complete healing!!!!
Love -
Rob, Amy, Emily, and Ryan Farrell
