Put a Little Island in your Life!
We've been gone since I posted last night, but wanted to come home tonight so we could post a comment on Nikki's blog on July 29th - her day of 24 hour blogging for the Children's Neuroblastoma Cancer Foundation (CNCF). She's done an amazing job and has raised nearly $1,000 thus far! We followed along via Shayne's cell phone, but weren't able to post until we returned home. THANKS, Nikki!

As you can see from the photos, we had a lovely day! And my mom is doing ok. I knew today would be a hard one for her as well. It's hard to believe dad has been gone for ten years.
After catching an early morning "Jet Express" we arrived at one of Lake Erie's twelve islands (South Bass), rented a golf cart and had a lovely time at Put-in-Bay! (Chris, we looked for your sailboat!)
Playing in a shady park on the island.
The girls LOVED daddy driving them around in a golf cart all day, what a hoot!
"It may be impossible, but I can always hope!" (Christi patiently waits for a butterfly to land on her finger. Finally, it happened!)
While Christi sketches in the "Butterfly House" a large, blue butterfly flies by and is captured via my camera, amazing!
Cooling off in an incredible pool before getting pizza, hearing more from our latest family book- "Room One" by Andrew Clements and catching "the jet" back to Port Clinton.

WOW!!! Angela, that blue butterfly gave me goose bumps. Have I shared with you the story of the butterfly that appeared to me in our home on January 13th, 2004?... Yes, the middle of winter...with neat stories surrounding it. I had called our friend Jill whose husband helps at the Hershey Butterfly Gardens and she said at the time: "Doug came home from work last night…the butterfly is a male Black Swallowtail. There is no reason for that to be around now. His words, "bizarre". They are around in June. He also said that the Black Swallowtails do not go near people or land on people."
(the butterfly landed on my shoulder and then would just sit in my hand for hours) He also asked if I knew that "in Asia butterflies are believed to be the manifestation of dead souls who have returned to protect the living". hmmmm....I'm still a strong believer in the miracle!
Thank you so much for sharing those pictures....and I'm glad you all got through the day....kept thinking of your mom too.
Have a beautiful Sunday!
love, sylvia
What a fun day! I love the blue butterfly pic. :)
Praying for you always,
Michelle Stokes
Looks like you had a perfect outing yesterday.
Thanks to Christi and to the whole family for being such an inspiration to other families fighting this beast.
Cheers, and wishes for many more perfect outings.
Oh, Put-in-Bay is one of my favorite places! I remember begging to drive the golf cart! :) I'm glad you had such a nice day. And Christi's hair is growing back so quickly!
And a butterfly attracting hint for Christi- just put a little sugar water or fruit juice on your hand, and you'll be a butterfly's best friend in no time!

Dear Angela and Shayne,
I'm very glad to hear that Christi's counts were good and that she is feeling ok. I love all the photo's, you both look so young and cute in the photo's before you were married! I'm so sorry to hear that your dad died so suddenly and so young Angela, it is hard to come to terms with that.
I'm praying that Christi continues to feel well and that her current treatment is successful.
take care
Lots of love
Angela

I just wanted to come out from the lurking. I have been reading and praying for 6 months now. My son Warren had burkitt's lymphomia last year. We are in the wait and see mode. He just turned 13. It has been a ruff ride. his website is
