$1,000 Donation to the "Christi Thomas Student Library"

When Seneca East cancelled its gifted education program due to budget cuts, Christi started receiving her gifted services at Bridges. She loved going to Bridges on Fridays where she worked with wonderful staff members and made sweet friends. An elderly gentleman carved a beautiful sign and they officially named their student library the "Christi Thomas Student Library" in honor of Christi and her love of reading. (The Chatty Cathy Club also met there after lunch from what we are told.) This $1,000 donation from the Christi Thomas Memorial Fund will be used to purchase books for “Christi’s Corner” where they’d like to arrange some of Christi’s favorite titles and for other needed areas of the library.

I would have embarassed Christi by putting this darling little picture of her sitting on her potty chair as a two year old on her website, but.....I can do that now. I think it's precious!!

Here's wishing you and yours a great weekend! It's SHAYLAUARY and her 8th birthday weekend!

It is nothing short of amazing what Christi's fund is doing for others. I love making use of our local libraries and, as a book reading addict, I can appreciate what it means to the library to receive the $1000 donation. You are doing such wonderful things in Christi's honor. I am so proud of the Thomas Team!! I'm sure Christi is just beaming with pride for her family too.

The library is such a touching and fitting tribute to Christi! I am sure she loves it. Reading about "Christi's corner" nearly brought me to tears. Christi did so much and touched so many in her short nine years here. She has taught us all so much. It's been an honor and inspiration to share her story. THANK YOU!

HAPPY SHAYLUARY, Shayla!!! I hope you have a great weekend and lovely birthday-- even if you do have school on Monday. Maybe you can do another "snow dance" and there will be a snow storm that will close the schools on Monday??? :p Thinking of you. :o)

Your little book worm would certainly approve of this! That's so sweet and amazing that they named the student library after Christi! I can imagine Christi now saying "MOM!" seeing that potty picture! Although it put a big smile on my face, such a little cutie. I've always loved that picture of 5 yr old Christi reading to Shayla, too precious for words. Stay Strong!

Shayla's turning 8 so let's celebrate!

It is the most precious picture I've ever seen--sitting on the commode & reading! I'm sure she'd love to know that the library is going to receive a donation from the memorial fund--all of the recipients you've chosen so capture Christi's essence and all of the things she loved so much. I hope that Shayla has a fantastic birthday and a great weekend.
